About Us: 



We are looking for a passionate and collaborative individual to join CivicWell’s Climate Change and Energy team to support the coordination and execution of projects related to equitable climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience.

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual with strong communication and organizational skills with a growth mindset, and the ability to learn and apply new skills. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved and build expertise in the rapidly evolving fields of climate resilience, clean energy, and statewide decarbonization.

This is a hybrid position with the option to work primarily from a remote location within California. Ideal candidates will be based in the Sacramento region as this position will be required to work from CivicWell’s Sacramento office at least once a month to support in-person event preparations.



The Project Assistant is responsible for achieving specified objectives within short-range time limits. They will report to multiple project managers and team members and will work on a wide range of the Climate Change and Energy team’s portfolio, which includes the Alliance of Regional Collaboratives for Climate Adaptation (ARCCA), California Climate & Energy Collaborative (CCEC), Capital Region Climate Readiness Collaborative (CRCRC), Local Government Sustainable Energy Coalition (LGSEC), and additional local, regional, and statewide programs.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Updating databases, spreadsheets, and reports.
  • Scheduling meetings, taking meeting notes, and developing meeting summaries.
  • Researching contact information and organizing contact lists.
  • Answering event logistics inquiries.
  • Creating event invitations and promotional materials in Constant Contact, Mailchimp and Canva.
  • Posting content and managing social media accounts and groups (i.e. LinkedIn).
  • Conducting outreach to potential and confirmed promotional partners, speakers, and participants via phone and email communications, including mail merges.
  • Preparing and printing event documents and materials.
  • Managing catering for in-person events.
  • Researching meeting locations and event venues.
  • Organizing documents and files.
  • Helping to maintain the team and organization’s contact management system.


We are searching for candidates with the following key attributes and qualifications:

  • An Associate’s Degree, or 1-2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Ability to manage time and tasks with multiple timelines and project supervisors.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Comfort in working professionally with diverse project partners and stakeholders.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.

Additional preferred skills and abilities include:

  • Proficiency in platforms such as Zoom, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Constant Contact, MailChimp, Survey Monkey, FormSite, Canva, and WordPress.
  • Experience in event logistics.
  • Experience with data entry and tracking.
  • Commitment to building and maintaining efficiency in project systems and operations.
  • Working understanding of equity, environmental justice, and/or social/racial justice principles, frameworks, and practices as applied in the fields of climate change and energy.
  • Desire to learn and build knowledge in the clean energy and climate resilience fields.

This position is full-time and non-exempt (hourly). The annual full-time starting salary range for this position is $39,520 – $49,920 depending on qualifications.

  • 401K retirement plan with an employer contribution which is currently up to 4% of salary. Full-time employees are eligible to participate in the plan after 90 days of employment and will become eligible for the 4% employer match after 1 year of employment..
