Local communities are on the frontlines of recovering from wildfire and other natural disasters. In California, policymakers seek to align rebuilding efforts with the state’s decarbonization goals. A great example of this is the Rebuilding Incentives for Sustainable Electric (RISE) Homes program. This program was created by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and is administered by ICF. Under this program, homeowners located in investor-owned utility service areas whose homes were destroyed by wildfires and other natural disasters can apply for assistance to rebuild a fully electric home.
