CivicWell has been awarded a Best Brand Award! We received a Bronze honor for the Americas in the category of Identity Redesign.
The Best Brand Awards is a worldwide competition for brands, honoring the best work in brand design worldwide. Brands from 21 countries took part in the Best Brand Awards 2022, and the submissions came from six continents. The awards are presented in three regional categories: Best of the Americas, Best of Europe & Africa, and Best of Asia & Oceania.
Throughout 2021, we partnered with the marketing firm Mekanic and engaged in an extensive process of listening to staff, partners, members, and key stakeholders. We tested ideas and refined our vision for where we’re headed. We knew our impact was growing, and needed to write the next chapter of our story.
We chose to move away from the name Local Government Commission and share a new story that is broader, more equitable and inclusive, and open to all communities. The name CivicWell is about coming together to be civically engaged, public service-minded, and committed to healthier, climate-resilient, thriving communities.
The CivicWell logo stands for a foundation that others can expand on, the process of learning and iterating, and the unity of many perspectives sharing a mission. The series of three slightly different horizontal lines symbolizes the process of learning from communities and applying strategies to fit each community’s unique vision and needs. The circle represents continuity and evokes the well—a symbolic place of gathering and nourishment. The gradient conveys the complexity and nuance that characterizes the work of translating impactful policies into real life.
We are honored to receive this award, and look forward to continuing to deepen our commitment to serving as a resource and partner for local leaders responding to the climate crisis and its impact on their communities.
