Program Areas

Water

Fostering watershed health. Advancing sustainability and equity in water policy implementation.

CivicWell has served as a vanguard for local water management, embracing innovative, holistic approaches that ensure the resilience of our natural systems while enhancing the vibrance of our built communities.

CivicWell has convened thought leadership on water policy and implementation since 2006, when we published the groundbreaking Ahwahnee Water Principles. We have provided education, engagement, and policy guidance through written reports, webinars, and convenings. Our direct support services include providing collaborative engagement, project management, and knowledge and capacity building for projects such as:

  • Madera County’s Fairmead Groundwater Resiliency Plan
  • Nonprofit Groundwater Collaborative and Groundwater Leadership Forum group coordination and facilitation
  • Westside Subbasin Multibenefit Land Repurposing Program

Ahwahnee Principles

The Ahwahnee Water Principles complement the Ahwahnee Principles for Resource-Efficient Communities that were developed in 1991. They offer stewardship actions that local communities can take to improve the reliability and quality of our water resources, while also reducing costs.
